Weird or Wise?
In preparation for summer, I've purchased a higasa (parasol/sun umbrella) and arm-length uv-protectant driving gloves. I say it's sensible, but my husband says it's strange. Which one of us is right?
The more things change, the more they remain INSANE!

WELCOME! The Beyond J-Land blog is a smorgasbord of mostly lighthearted excerpts from my life. Excluding chronological, there is little organization or method to the tidbits I author. However, fashion tragedies, questionable sanity, bugs, nostalgia, friends, family, Japan, the States, culture shock and reverse culture shock have been recurring topics thus far. Feel free to take a peek at what life looks like through this girl's eyes.
:
higasa - kinda neat
driving gloves - weird
Thanks for the reality check, Speaka. A lot of the women my age here wear driving gloves, so it started seeming normal. I'm still gonna wear them, though.
I guess it is kind of wise but really just goes to show how Japanese you have become. Next thing you know you'll feel like going around town all day in one of those walk-in, smock type apron things. Went to tsunoshima today and have put some photos up on Blog 2.
Oh dear. Hopefully I'll be gone before I have the urge to wear a smock apron. I'll check out your blog right now.
Healthy and strange. Strange wins though so I wouldn't use either... It will take a bit for them to become the 'norm' for me...
Yeah, after doing it myself, I wouldn't advise foreigners to stay here 3 years straight without visiting their home country. Hard to tell the difference between strange and normal sometimes.
