A Hard Situation

I just finished team teaching a class with a Japanese teacher who has difficulty keeping his /r/ and /l/ sounds straight. One of the vocabulary words he kept referring to today was "election". He would say things like, "Elections are coming to Japan soon" and "How often are there elections in America?" It was so difficult to keep from busting up. I thought I would die.

today i have to explain the meaning of "stripper" !!! I almost chocked when I read this.
Apparently in American it means some kind of knife to peel with?! (we say peeler...)
ah the joys of being an ALT eh...I remember paul H saying last year his students asked him "in england, do you have erections?"haha

Lmao. As far as I know, "stripper" in American is reserved for the people who remove their clothes. Maybe some the textbook hired a disgruntled American ALT who came up with that alternate meaning.

A stripper is definetely someone who takes their clothes off for $. A peeler bar though has the same meaning as strip club I think.
