Reverse Psychology

I apologize to the Shimonosekians for whom this blog entry will be nothing more than a pathetic repeat of my bemoanings last night.

Yesterday evening I had Japanese class in Shimonoseki. Trying to be a good pupil, I had completed my essay assignment from the previous week earlier in the day. Unfortunately, the other 9 or so students in the class failed to do their homework. Because I didn't want to bring them unwanted attention from the teacher, I waited until class was ending to hand my essay in. This is when things became terribly screwed up.

Back home I would have received some sort of reward, or at least some expression of gratitude for being the only student to complete their work, but not here. Instead, I was forced to read my essay in front of everyone. It was pure torture!

But all is not lost. I emerged from my recitation having learned a valuable lesson. That lesson is: NEVER DO HOMEWORK.

Hmm...I wonder if the same thing happened to my high school students when they were younger.
