Time Flies

Exactly 8 years ago today I was lying on a hospital stretcher, focusing on the bright light overhead, when my doctor shouted, "It's a boy! He's HUGE!" And he was--9 pounds (about 4.1 kg) to be exact. He was bright red with hair to match and was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. My life was forever changed.

"He" is my son, Jared. Today Jared turns 8. I made him pose for this picture before he left for school this morning to commemorate his birth.

As you can see, he is no longer huge for his age, his skin tone is more of a golden brown than a bright red, and his hair has changed colors, too. But he is still one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen (the other most beautiful thing is his younger brother).
