Internationalisation In Action
Today was Jared and Everett's undoukai (Sports Festival). I thought I'd share a few photo highlights from the events:
Everett getting ready for his dance. I can't help but ask myself--If I had a daughter, is this what she would look like?

Everett & friend performing a traditional Japanese dance. Everett takes dancing very seriously. He didn't crack a smile the entire time.
Jared and buddies. Surprisingly, there are no "peace" signs being flashed.
Everett taking the preschool running championship. Still showing no excitement, but putting in the effort.
Jared heading for the finish (far right).
Everett & his dad in a very strange relay race. Everett is in little white daruma outfit. The goal is for the parent to help the child race around the obake (ghost) and other scary creatures, beating the other team.
Closing ceremony begins. Where's Jared? Not as easy to spot as you'd think.

:
Hello again from Canada. I am still reading your blog and loving it. I have a few blogs bookmarked from people living afar. Reading them makes me feel like maybe someday I will be brave enough to leap into something similar. Your pics truly capture a different world. I love it!!! Cheers,
Sue
What a great perspective of Undokai. I love my pics cause I know the kids but yours are great cause the kids are yours. Keep posting pics... They're my favourite part.
very kawaii! One of my schools has two gaijin kids that stick out like sore (blond) thumbs but yours seem to blend in nicely!
Sue: It's always nice to hear my blog's entertaining someone. If you're interested in living in a foreign land, you should just do it! It's definitely life-changing.
Turning Japanese: Glad you like the pics. I hope things at work are going smoothly now and spirits are up.
Kat: They call my oldest kinpatsu (blond) at school, but overall my kids assimilated quite well once the J-kids quit touching, laughing and pointing at them. Of course it helps that the youngest thinks he IS Japanese.
very cute! I had never seen your kids before....they are adorable! Happy Birthday wishes to the 8 year old!
Thanks! We already had the family celebration, but tomorrow I am exploiting Jared's birthday by celebrating it during my English club due to lack of other ideas. It's so handy to have family here in Japan.
I'm going to guess that he's one of the closest two, but he's the one on the left. Am I right? ^_^
Dead curious about how raising your minis here has gone. I plan to do something similar when I have mine. Does Everette speak Japanese /and/ English? (funny that he thinks he's Japanese. practically though. ^_^)
Bu-Bu! He is the one dead center looking back at the camera. Nice try, though.
You are pregnant? Congratulations! (As you can see, I've resorted to starting untrue rumours for entertainment.)
Both the kids speak Japanese and English, although Everett likes to splatter the two together at home. Sad to say, but I speak the worst Japanese in my household. :'-(
